NEW DELHI: Ahead of Dussehra celebrations in Uttar Pradesh , CM Yogi Adityanath has directed state authorities to take strict action against miscreants and ensure heightened security during the festive period , according to a statement issued by the UP government on Friday, reported news agency ANI.

Reacting over the recent incidents in aftermath of “I love muhammad row” in Kanpur, Varanasi and Moradabad, the Chief Minister has instructed police officials to identify troublemakers using video footage and social media monitoring and initiate immediate legal action, including the filing of FIRs and investigations into their properties.

“Every miscreant should be identified; no one should be spared through video footage and social media monitoring,” Yogi said, as per the agency.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the symbolism of Dussehra - the triumph of good over evil - should reflect in administrative actions.

“Dussehra symbolises the burning of evil and terror; this is the right time to take action against miscreants,” he said.

“Miscreants will not be spared; action will be taken that will prevent them from even thinking of creating anarchy again,” he added.

Police have been asked to conduct surprise inspections of slaughterhouses to ensure regulatory compliance, avoid traffic jams during celebrations, and maintain law and order, particularly at Durga Puja and Ravana Dahan events. He also advised that idol heights remain within safety norms and that alternative arrangements for immersions be put in place to avoid disruptions.

CM Yogi also stressed the need for stronger women's safety measures during the festive season. He said accountability would be fixed from the local police station level to the police response vehicle (PRV) in cases of molestation, chain snatching and acid attacks.

Police have been directed to step up vigilance against impersonators entering garba and dandiya events and implement mission shakti 5.0 effectively. Surveillance using drones has also been ordered.

The Chief Minister warned against rumour-mongering, especially on theft, and said such behaviour must be met with immediate arrests.

“Arrest the rumour-mongers,” he instructed, while also calling for increased vigilance by local watchmen.

CM Yogi also cautioned against any attempts to incite caste tensions, urging officials to ensure full compliance with state directives during the festive period.
