Brian May celebrates Bohemian Rhapsody 50th anniversary with fans in new video

It was 50 years ago today when Queen released their most famous track, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Freddie Mercury's magnum opus was a real gamble back when the band were recording their fourth studio album, A Night at the Opera.

Despite pushback at the six-minute length and initial disdain from the critics, the song would go on to become one of Britain's best-loved rock anthems.

Upon its 1975 release, the track topped the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks, plus another five after Freddie's death in 1991.

To date, it is the country's third-best-selling single of all time and became the most-streamed song of the 20th century following the release of the Bohemian Rhapsody film in 2018.

In celebration, Sir Brian May has posted a special video singing "Happy Birthday Boh Rhap".

The Queen guitar shared: "Who would have thought? Half a century! Just wanted to say thank you all you folks who have kept Bohemian Rhapsody up there and in our minds all these years. Kept it fresh, and alive! Lots of love, Happy Birthday to y'all!"
