Officials said a search operation was launched late Friday evening in the Dudu-Basantgarh area of Udhampur and the Seoj Dhar forest border in Bhaderwah, Doda. The operation was jointly carried out by the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. During the search, militants opened fire, injuring one soldier. They said the soldier was taken to a hospital where he died.
Search for terrorists continuesOfficials said a tight cordon was put in place overnight around the encounter site. The joint search operation resumed Saturday morning. Two to three terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the forest area. Officials said the search operation, aided by drones and dog squads, is still ongoing.
A search operation was also launched in Kishtwar, where a gunfight between militants and security forces has been ongoing since Friday night. However, no trace of the terrorists has been found yet.
News of Jaish terrorists hidingThe army and security forces have received information that two to three Jaish terrorists are hiding in the Udhampur area. Based on this information, the army is conducting a search operation throughout the area. According to officials, these terrorists have been attempting to infiltrate for some time. However, security forces have foiled their attempts. During this search operation, the police also conducted searches at eight locations in the valley, including Srinagar.
