The two men sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a young girl in Bah appeared deeply disturbed after the court’s verdict. Jail authorities reported that both convicts did not sleep throughout the night and even refused to eat dinner. Their behavior has changed significantly since the sentencing, prompting prison officials to keep them under continuous observation and provide counseling.
The incident took place on March 18, 2024, in a village under the Bah police station area. The victim, a young girl playing with other children near a canal, was kidnapped by Amit Kushwaha, a resident of Farera village, along with his friend Nikhil. The duo assaulted and raped the girl before strangling her to death with her own top.
On Thursday, Special POCSO Court Judge Sonika Chaudhary pronounced the death sentence for both accused. Following the judgment, Amit and Nikhil were sent to the district jail and placed in the same barracks where they had been held earlier.
According to prison officials, both men appeared visibly shaken after hearing the verdict. The administration has intensified monitoring to prevent any untoward incident inside the jail.
