In recent years, North Gujarat has emerged as India’s leading automobile manufacturing hub, and much of the credit goes to Suzuki Motor Gujarat. The company’s Mehsana-based factory, with an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh cars, has been instrumental in meeting demand not just in India but also in global markets, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.
New EV Production Line with ₹3,200 Crore InvestmentSuzuki has now announced plans to establish a fourth production line at the Gujarat facility with an investment of around ₹3,200 crore. This new line will focus on electric vehicle (EV) production, complementing the company’s larger commitment of setting up a ₹7,300 crore battery plant and a ₹3,100 crore EV manufacturing unit.
Suzuki’s Turning Point in GujaratAlthough Gujarat started attracting major automobile companies between 2012 and 2015, the real milestone came in 2014, when Suzuki signed a mega deal with the state government to establish a large-scale manufacturing plant. Since then, continuous investment has not only created thousands of jobs but also boosted the auto component ecosystem in the region.
One of India’s Largest Auto HubsToday, Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s facility is among the largest automobile production centers in the country. Thanks to the state’s port connectivity, Gujarat has also become a leading export hub. In 2024 alone, vehicles worth nearly ₹3,459 crore were exported to countries such as South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Japan, UAE, and Chile.
New Prospects at Vibrant GujaratThe state government is preparing to highlight these achievements at the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRC), showcasing new opportunities in the automobile and allied sectors to global investors.
With Suzuki’s growing investments and focus on EVs, Gujarat is not only strengthening its position as a global auto hub but is also scripting a new chapter for India’s automobile industry.
