Helldivers 2 players are battling more than just the game's alien foes, as a swarm of bugs have infested the game following this week's update, prompting developer Arrowhead to scramble for a hotfix.
It's been a whirlwind week for Helldivers 2 players, with the launch of the new Into the Unjust content update on Tuesday, September 2, and the release of a new Premium Warbond, Dust Devils, today. All this excitement comes just a week after the game made its Xbox debut, ending an 18-month period of exclusivity on PS5 and PC.
While the update brought a host of thrilling new adversaries like the burrowing Rupture variants of Spewers, Warriors, and Chargers, the flying Dragonroach, and the colossal Hive Lord, it also ushered in some unwelcome glitches that added to the growing list of unresolved issues.
This Reddit post touches on a lot of them, including issues calling down Strategems, and barely audible in-game comms when underground. You can check out a list of complaints post-Into the Unjust over on Reddit, if you want to see if anyone else is running into the same problems you are.
The Helldivers 2 hotfix today has been "released ahead of schedule with some additional crash fixes to address some of the issues players are experiencing" including crashes, the Pelican-1's landing shenanigans, and Hive World tunnel lighting. And while Dust Devils only just released today, we're already seeing some of the Warbond's items get buffed.
Full patch notes are below, but some persistent bugs are still left to roam freely, whilst some don't appear to be acknowledged at all.
Hopefully we'll see another Helldivers 2 hotfix or more substantial update soon, to target ongoing bugs as well as the new ones, especially with Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, taking to Discord to say the team can focus on this now that the Xbox launch is done and dusted.
Replying to a player on the Discord who asked why the game's performance has been 'getting worse since the Omens of Tyranny update' last year, Jorjani said:
"The technical debt is crippling. with the xbox release behind us we'll be able to take a much better stab at it. like a double stab. with a bigger knife."
He has also said that the 140GB file size is being looked at as a priority; and for those of you who are playing on Steam Deck, Jorjani added that once the game's "working well" in terms of targeted system requirements, Arrowhead "might considering formally supporting it more."

- Dust Devils item buffs
- MS-11 Solo Silo: Cooldown changed from 210s to 180s
- S-11 Speargun: Decreased reload duration 3.5 -> 2.5 sec
- Fixed a crash that can happen when too many particle effects are spawned
- Fixed a crash when Helldivers are in Hellpods after being reinforced
- Fixed an issue where light emitted by the Hellpad could become excessively bright under certain conditions
- General crash fix occurring during Automaton missions
- Fixed issue in which hive world tunnels would become darker than intended in certain circumstances when a user is using lower graphics settings
- Fixed a crash that could occur if the target of a seeking missile gets deleted before impact
- The extraction shuttle will land in a more safe and sound manner
- Fixed the LIFT-182 Warp Pack getting stuck suspended in the air or crashing
- Reduced cooldown on the MS-11 Solo Silo from 210 seconds to 180 seconds
- Fixed a rare crash caused by multiple players having the MA5C AR equipped on the Super Destroyer
- Fixed Displacements Backpack VFX issues whilst aiming down sights
- Fixed a rare crash which could occur when aborting a mission while a player was wielding a turret or driving a vehicle

New- Extraction shuttle or beacon may clip into terrain, preventing extraction.
- Keybinds do not save after restarting the game using the AZERTY and French keyboard settings
- Players who are using the Microsoft IME languages are unable to type Korean, Japanese and Chinese symbols in chat.
- Some weapons may be missing sound effects for some players.
- Explosives can cause Helldivers hidden behind terrain to ragdoll
- Weapon scopes may have an incorrect FOV that doesn't match the weapon
- Interrupting the reload animation of the StA-11 SMG may result in the magazine being consumed without reloading it.
- The right gauntlet of SR-64 Cinderblock armor is misaligned
- Capes don't display in the Armory tab and instead show a blank grey cape
- Weapon customization doesn't correctly display stats for sway and reload times
- 'Leviathan' and 'Warrior' change to 'Advocate' when used in Super Destroyer names
- XP modifier is not applied accurately for high CR Eradicate and Blitz missions.
- Extraction Shuttle can sometimes clip into the ground while landing
Today's Helldivers 2 hotfix primarily addresses crashes, and has polished up some Dust Devils items. If you cannot spot bugs you've experienced in the known issues list, make you report them so they get blasted next.
