Hit teen drama My Life with the Walter Boys has returned with a second series, with fans branding it "trashy" and "insane" in new reviews.

The Netflix drama's second season, which fans had to wait two years for, has quickly made waves on the streaming charts, despite having only been released days ago.

My Life with the Walter Boys is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Ali Novak and focuses on 15-year-old Jackie Howard, portrayed by Nikki Rodriguez.

Jackie moved from New York to Colorado following the death of her parents, to begin living with her mum's best friend at her family ranch, which is also the home to the 10 Walter children - made up of seven boys, one girl and two nephews.

The second season sees Jackie exploring her identity, grappling with college dreams and her budding feelings for two of the boys she's wound up living with, Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde).

She attempts to make a decision between Alex and Cole, while also pinning her hopes on landing a place at Princeton.

Despite having only been released on 28th August, many fans have already binge-watched the new 10 episodes of My Life with the Walter Boys. While the show only has a 42 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it does seem to have been a big hit with Netflix fans.

"Cringey and cliché, but binge-worthy!" one person said, as a second appeared to agree, saying: "Stupid but weirdly enjoyable, classic trashy drama."

A third viewer wrote: "Anyone here a fan of My Life With The Walter Boys??? Season 2 was completely insane and I need to talk and dissect with someone!"

"This is an easy show to watch when you want something entertaining and not too intense," another recommended, while somebody else said they'd found themselves "invested" in the series despite initially not being a fan.

My Life with the Walter Boys, which some fans have compared to The Summer I Turned Pretty, has already been greenlit for a third season on Netflix, which is predicted to air at some point in 2026.

Netflix has confirmed the upcoming series has already started filming and teased what's to come. Show creator Melanie Halsall has revealed Jackie is set to finally make a decision, following the huge cliffhanger at the end of season two.

“It was a pretty big revelation at the end of season two, and we can’t just ignore that,” she told Tudum. “She also can’t keep bouncing between two boys. How we tackle that will be a really interesting challenge, and I’m looking forward to that.”

My Life with the Walter Boys is available to stream now on Netflix.
