EastEnders fans 'work out' Zoe Slater's new love interest as actor 'lets slip' huge clue

Fans were left open-mouthed at the ending of tonight's EastEnders as Alfie finally told Kat the truth about Zoe Slater. Last month, Alfie headed off to Spain to try and find and help Zoe, although he told Kat he had headed off to Australia to see his brother Spencer. His lie was later rumbled, as he said that he had gone to help Hayley with his daughter, Cherry.

Alfie and Stacey were the only ones in the know, although yesterday, that all came crashing down when Kat's stolen phone landed in Tommy's hand - as he heard the drunken voicemail from Alfie confessing all.

The guilt got the better of Alfie in tonight's episode, as he finally told Kat the truth, leaving her stunned.

Elsewhere, Tommy was seen texting Zoe after an argument with Kat, as he wrote: "You don't know me, but I'm your brother. And I can't deal with mum anymore either."

Earlier on in the episode, Alfie told Stacey that he had attempted to ring Zoe's phone, and although she didn't answer, she had a UK dialling tone. Spoilers for the BBC soap have revealed that the character will be making a highly anticipated return to the Sqaure next week, and new information may have dropped some major hints about a love interest for Zoe...

In a new interview with Inside Soap Magazine, James Farrar, who plays Zack Hudson, let slip some telling details about the Slater return. The publication caught up with a handful of cast members before the awards, but it was James's comments that caught the eyes of fans.

After talking about the epic lake scenes earlier this year, James said: "It's nice to be in the middle of the drama with the Slaters obviously Zoe Slater doesn't get on with my family too well, but it's nice.

"I started the show in the Vic kitchen, and now I'm back there. I was with the Carters before, and now I'm with the Slaters."

Zack is currently out of a job after the restaurant shut down due to Ravi not paying taxes - and now fans think they've figured out what his next job could be, but that's not all they think...

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: "Zack and Zoe romance when it should ar Kelly Taylor bring back Zoe’s girlfriend please I can’t deal with this #EastEnders," while another said: "oh zack & zoe are definitely becoming an item & idc what people say I love the idea of them."

"James Farrar just said in an Interview he's 'in the with the Slaters' now so I'm assuming Zack is gonna get together with Zoe and work at The Vic since apparently he gets a job there soon...." predicted a third.

Although we know Zoe's back on the Square next week, EastEnders aren't giving too much away, except for the fact that her reunion with Kat is going to be "the mother of all reunions".

During her brief return to the show earlier this year, we were made aware that Zoe has a huge secret. We're still not aware of what she's hiding, but it looks like all could be revealed soon after her return...
