EastEnders cast 'excited' as they tease huge twists ahead

Send Push

There's plenty more epic scenes on the way on EastEnders according to cast members.

The Mirror spoke exclusively with soap stars Scott Maslen and Delroy Atkinson, who play Jack Branning and Howie Danes on the BBC soap. At the National Television Awards this week, we asked them about the "good place" the show is in right now.

Jack actor Scott touched on the "ups and downs" the show and cast and crew have faced, but said they were all "excited" about what was ahead. Howie star Delroy promised the show was going from strength to strength.

Scott told us: "Listen, with EastEnders, we're in a good place and it's taken a while to get there. We've had ups and downs, but we've got a fantastic group of people working together.

"Not just the actors, it's everybody. We've found a little alchemy and we are just reaping the rewards of that really." But it seems there's more great twists to come.

Delroy shared: "What we can tease is that the trajectory is upwards, right? There are good times ahead." Scott agreed with his co-star, saying: "It's a really positive time for every family in that show.

"It is interesting, so I am so happy and so excited about the future." Asked if anything can happen, they both agreed with Delroy telling us: "Well, absolutely!"

It follows Zoe Slater actress Michelle Ryan also teasing big twists ahead. She spilled: "It is a great time going back for the 40th, it felt like an appropriate time. There is more to come. With the Max twist there is more after that and then there is more. So it's really quite something."

Michelle repeated that now was the time to return after 20 years away. She shared: "It feels like the right time, I feel like timing is everything in life and it feels like a good time to be back."

On what could be ahead for viewers, Michelle shared her excitement over the stuff that recently aired with the shooting and the flashbacks. She said: "What draws me in is the scripts.

"So I was really quite thrilled when I read them. This is the kind of thing that keeps everyone interested and hopefully it will be exciting for the fans."

Michelle also shut down rumours and theories about the father of Zoe's twins. She hinted fans had yet to work out the truth about who fathered them, amid Zoe's hopes to find her son who was adopted.

She told us: "They're all wrong, I have to say. Sorry, I'm just going to quickly say, if you're putting bets on I'm just letting you know!" Viewers will have to tune in to see what happens next!
