Channing Tatum has cleared the air about his wild evening with the Wrexham squad following Ryan Reynolds' playful accusation that he led his footballers astray. The Magic Mike star visited North Wales last December to shoot a Super Bowl commercial for one of the sponsors of the football club jointly owned by Reynolds and Rob Mac.
The Hollywood A-lister clearly had a brilliant time after watching Phil Parkinson's side draw 2-2 with Cambridge United in their League One fixture at the Racecourse Ground. The 45-year-old subsequently joined the players for a night on the town to mark midfielder Elliot Lee's birthday.
Limited information was previously available about the lively celebration, but Reynolds disclosed what actually happened last week whilst jokingly suggesting it might have put the team in serious jeopardy. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Deadpool actor displayed a photograph of Tatum posing shirtless alongside Lee, plus then-Wrexham forwards Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher, at a local venue.
The Canadian firmly placed responsibility for the boisterous evening squarely on his fellow actor's shoulders. Reynolds said: "He turned the whole team into Magic Mike. Those boys were in their hotel rooms, tucked away and lost in prayer. Then he came in individually, room by room and snatched them into the Welsh nightlife."
Tatum has now shared his side of the story, insisting that he wasn't solely responsible for the rowdy behaviour. Speaking on The Today Show on NBC, he described the Wrexham players as "wild" and humorously suggested that Reynolds had set him up with his account of the evening's antics.

Despite the chaotic scenes, Tatum praised the Red Dragons team as "pretty wholesome" in reality, declaring himself a "huge fan" of the Championship club.
"Those boys are wild - that's not all me doing that," he said. "He [Reynolds] set it up on Kimmel like I did that. Look, I don't take my shirt off in places wherever we go. We got a little wild that night. I did not intend on doing that. I was going in to do a Super Bowl commercial.
"He was like, 'tell me what happened and tell me how it happened.' And I'm like, 'I'm not going to do that.' It was so much fun and those boys are so good. They're such a good time and they actually are pretty wholesome. That doesn't look wholesome, but they keep it together and they're professional. I'm a huge Wrexham fan."

Tatum is among several Hollywood A-listers who have visited the Racecourse Ground since Wrexham were purchased by Reynolds and Mac in February 2021. Stars such as Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria, comedy legend Will Ferrell and Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd have also dropped in to watch a match.
Reynolds and Tatum made a surprise visit to the Fat Boar pub in Wrexham during last year's visit, leaving other patrons astonished. Tatum later shared his fond memories of the trip on social media.
In an Instagram post, he said: "Caffeine and dancing aside, that trip to Wrexham was something I'll never forget. What Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have done for the community in Wrexham is magic. I spent a few days (and nights) there.
"The team and town have a sense of optimism and a ride or die loyalty that made me want to stay forever. Incredible work, Ryan and Rob. Good people build good things. And thanks to the many beautiful people of Wrexham. Up the town!".
