The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorm activity across southern states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, over the coming week. According to the All India Weather Forecast and Warning Bulletin issued on October 12, 2025, these regions will continue to experience light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy spells in several areas till October 18.
The bulletin, issued at 8:02 PM on Sunday, also indicates that the southwest monsoon withdrawal process is underway from most parts of central and eastern India, even as the southern peninsular region remains under the influence of multiple weather systems. Residents and travellers are advised to plan their immediate travel plans keeping the current forecast in mind. In tricky areas, avoid unnecessary travel if possible.

The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Indore in Madhya Pradesh at 14.0 degrees Celsius, indicating the onset of cooler nights in parts of central India. Conversely, maximum temperatures were above normal in Konkan region, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and parts of Kerala. Barmer in Rajasthan recorded the highest temperature at 36.9 degrees Celsius.
Monsoon withdrawalConditions are now favourable for further withdrawal of the monsoon from remaining parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, as well as Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Telangana within the next 24 hours. The northeastern states are expected to see monsoon withdrawal over the next 2–3 days.
