What are the qualifications required for a Lieutenant?
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed an engineering degree course (Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Misc. Engineering streams) from a recognized university. Candidates in the final year of an engineering course are also eligible to apply. However, they must submit proof of passing the engineering degree examination along with mark sheets for all semesters/years by July 1, 2026, and submit the engineering degree within 12 weeks of the start date of training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA).
Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 20 to 27 years old as of July 1, 2026. That is, their date of birth must have fallen between July 1, 1999, and June 30, 2006, both dates inclusive.
Physical Standards: Must be able to perform a 2.4 km run, 40 pushups, 06 pullups, 30 situps, 30 squats, 10 lunges, and swimming.
How to Apply?
To apply for this recruitment, candidates must first visit the Army's official website, www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Click on "Officer Entry Apply/Login" here. Click on "Register" if you are not already registered.
Following this, read all the instructions and complete the registration process.
Now, click on "Apply Online" on the dashboard. The "Officer Selection Eligibility" option will open. Click on the "Apply" link next to the "Technical Graduate Course" section.
The application form will open. Fill in the required details in the various sections, including your personal information, communication details, education details, and previous SSB details.
After completing all the information, you will be redirected to the "Summary of Your Information" page, where you can edit the previously entered details.
Candidates must submit two copies of their application form with their roll number 30 minutes after the final closing date of online applications on the last day.
A merit list for the SSB interview will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the engineering stream without examination. If multiple candidates achieve the same SSB score, older candidates will be ranked higher on the merit list.
