Eberechi Eze signs, William Saliba deal, six leave – Arsenal's dream end to the transfer window

Mikel Arteta will want the lion's share of business wrapped up before the new Premier League season gets underway next weekend, but the transfer window doesn't shut for another three weeks.

Arsenal have already splashed nearly £200m on six new players this summer, plugging gaps across the park. Andrea Berta began by signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

After parting ways with Jorginho and Thomas Partey, the Gunners prised Christian Nørgaard from Brentford. While the Arsenal sporting director was in west London, he went back to Stamford Bridge to snap-up Noni Madueke.

Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres followed the England international to the Emirates Stadium, taking the Gunners' total spend to about £190m. Arsenal have spent well this summer, but there's still plenty of work to be done.

So, with that being said, football.london has looked at what Berta needs to do before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.

Berta raises funds for Arsenal blitz

Before Berta welcomes any more new faces to the Emirates Stadium, he needs to offload some players to balance the books. So, the Italian should cash in on Fabio Vieira, Jakub Kiwior, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

According to Transfermarkt, the quartet have a combined market value of €78m (£67.6m). If Reiss Nelson pushes to leave and a lucrative offer comes in for Leandro Trossard, Arsenal could raise over £100m in player sales this summer.

The proceeds from player sales should be set aside to fund a late bid for Eberechi Eze. The Crystal Palace talisman, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, would be an excellent addition to Arteta's side.

Not only can Eze break down low-block opposition, he also excels in transition, boasting an excellent range of passing. The 27-year-old isn't afraid to take on his full-back either, and he's a good decision maker too.

Ultimately, Eze would finally balance the frontline, providing the Gunners an alternative route to goal. Bukayo Saka has done much of the heavy lifting in recent times, so it's about time that Arsenal provide the Hale End graduate with some support.

Once Berta has finalised Arteta's squad, he needs to tie William Saliba down to a new contract. The Arsenal sporting director has done well to have already agreed extensions with Gabriel Magalhaes and, more recently, Ethan Nwaneri, but now he needs to turn his attention to the France international.

Saliba, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for a while now, sees his current deal expire in June 2027. The Gunners have plenty of time to negotiate a contract with the 24-year-old defender, but, this time next year, he'll only have 12 months left.

And, from January 2027, foreign clubs will be eligible to open pre-contract talks with Saliba over a free transfer. If the Frenchman doesn't pen an extension, Berta will be forced to make a difficult decision in the summer of 2026.

Arsenal will have to consider whether they'd rather risk losing Saliba for free or cut their losses and cash in. As we all know, Real Madrid are partial to a free agent, having recently prised Kylian Mbappe and Trent Alexander-Arnold from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, respectively.
